Welcome to this saddlebred stables blog!

Hello!

Glad to have you on board for this adventure.

This blog is to provide an outlet for people who have interests in the "Big Barn on the Boulevard" - lately known as Simmons' Stables - and all the long history it's held.

Visit our main site at http://saddlebredhalloffame.org as we just refurbished and polished it up.

There's a lot more to do in not just finishing the main barn restoration itself, but also the grounds and other historic buildings in this district.

So become a member if you aren't - and otherwise, enjoy the coming pictures and stories about this amazing barn and it's incredible history.

  2. Wonderful memories of riding my bike down Western Street to "hang" on the fence for hours and watch Art and Jim Simmons work their magic on the Saddlebreds housed in the "Big Barn on the Boulevard".

  3. Not only did Ann and I get to watch Art and Jim train the horses at the barn - we then got to watch them show those grand animals at the Audrain County Fair. Our Dad set up the sound system for the Fair, so we spent hours there. Wonderful memories to be sure.

  4. Not only did Lynn and I watch from the Bandstand, where the sound system was set up, we got to give the ribbons and trophies in the class that Dad's business, Badaracco Appliance, sponsored.

  5. Thanks for posting the wonderful picture of the Grave site of Rex McDonald. There is so much history that needs to be preserved concerning the Big Barn on the Boulevard. Keep up the good work!

  6. The Simmons' Stable Preservation Fund has been awarded a Green Foundation Grant in the amount of $10,000 to be used in the renovation of the Blacksmith Shop. The Group is very appreciative of this generous gift and looks forward to meeting with our contractor and beginning the restoration of this wonderful building.
